BRITISH
LONGHAIR

In 2014 I fell in love with a friend's British Longhair. She was living overseas and breeding them at the time, and I was immediately captivated by their beautiful appearance and gentle presence. I was also drawn to their reputation for being laid back, affectionate, and wonderfully devoted companions.

At that time, British longhairs were not yet accepted by the associations here in Australia, so I placed my dream on hold. In 2019 I started exploring the possibility again and was excited to learn that one of the cat registries had commenced registering the longhair variety. We soon started planning our Longhair and Shorthair program.

Importing breeding cats into Australia is a lengthy and significant commitment. It requires partnering with reputable international breeders who are willing to entrust us with quality cats. The process involves rabies vaccinations (As Australia is rabies free), rabies titre testing, comprehensive laboratory work, and strict government documentation completed within specific timeframes. Following blood testing, each cat must remain in an approved country for 180 days before arrival. While complex and costly, this process is essential - not only to establish the breed here, but also to ensure strong genetic diversity and to preserve the true British standard.

Today, our British Longhair program breeding cats originate from Germany, Estonia, France, Turkey, China and Latvia. We are proud of the diverse and carefully selected lines behind our program and remain committed to breeding healthy, beautiful Golden British Longhairs with exceptional temperaments. Our sincerest thanks go to those breeders before us, and the generosity of sharing their bloodlines.

British Golden Longhairs are still quite new to Australia. I'm proud to be the only breeder in South Australia dedicated exclusively to Golden British Longhairs.

Developing and maintaining a Golden British Longhair program is a significant investment, which is reflected in our pet pricing of $5000.

Alongside the classic golden shades, we also work with some of the rarer colours and patterns, including blue and lilac golden tipped. I've recently introduced beautiful Fawn and Cinnamon golden lines into my program as well.

Our Golden British are known for their laid back and affectionate temperament. They are a slow maturing cat, and once matured they are known for their round face, big green/golden eyes (or blue eyes in the pointed breeds) and dense plush coat. Whilst they have an exquisite coat, you must comb or brush the British Longhair 2-3 times per week, and sometimes every day during moulting seasons. The British are quite adaptable and happy being with a solo owner, or as part of a family. They are typically calm and very easy going. They have a very laid back and steady personality and are not hyperactive. They form very strong bonds with their family and enjoy lazing near you rather than constantly being held. They do enjoy a cuddle, but don't like to be smothered. They do well in homes if you work during the day and get along well with children and other animals. Overall, they are calm, sweet natured and loyal cats.

All of our kittens leave with age appropriate F3 vaccinations(x2), microchipped and speyed or neutered(absolutely non negotiable). All age appropriate parasite treatments are also done. Our kittens are available to leave home at 14-16 weeks of age, or as soon as they have recovered from their desexing surgery. We offer a kitten sales contract, lifelong support should you require it, and a kitten pack for those picking their babies up. Of course, should unexpected circumstances arise where you are no longer able to keep your baby, we will help you with re-homing.

All of our cats are FIV (Feline Aids) and FeLV (Feline Leukemia) negative. All of our British breeding cats are DNA tested for any pre-disposed dispositions that are found in the British cat. We find that it is imperative to test every breeding cat so that we continue to keep these precious bloodlines clear of these known predisposed diseases in ragdolls and the British.

We kindly ask that anyone considering one of or kittens to take the time to research the breed beforehand, to ensure a British Longhair is the right fit for your home and lifestyle. Our kittens are a long term commitment, and we want every kitten to be placed in a well prepared, loving home.

A small deposit is required to secure your place on our waiting list, as we only plan litters once we have confirmed families waiting. This allows us to focus on matching each kitten with the most suitable home rather than breeding without purpose.

Please note that our waiting list is currently closed as of January 2026 due to the high volume of enquiries.

We truly appreciate your understanding and your interest in our beautiful breed.
